My research interests chiefly concern theoretical aspects of interaction of black holes with surrounding matter and fields.

My contributions to this line of investigation have so far been focused on the influence of electromagnetic fields in two distinct contexts. First, I have studied interaction of black holes with external magnetic field in strong-field regime and demonstrated the so-called black hole Meissner effect in a new, more general situation. Second, I have worked on particle collisions near black holes, examining how the inclusion of electromagnetic interaction alters the picture regarding the kinematics of the collisions and the extraction of energy from black holes.
