I divide my research interests between astroparticle physics and cosmology. In astroparticle physics, I am active in the Pierre Auger Collaboration and in the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) Observatory, where I study mostly the atmospheric calibration of these detectors. In cosmology, I am the representative of the Institute of Physics in the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) Corporation. I am involved (together with Petr Kubánek) in the effort to fully characterize the CCD chips for the 3.2 Gpx mosaic camera of the LSST telescope. This work is realized mostly in collaboration with the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). I am also involved in the activities of the Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) that represents a part of the LSST scientific program dedicated to studies of dark energy and modified gravity. Together with my PhD student Michal Vraštil, I am working on simulations and approximations of specific types of modified gravity theories.
